Although she was born and reared in Georgia, Ms. Cantu has happily called Texas home since 1996. Her practice includes civil and business litigation throughout Texas.

Ms. Cantu obtained her Bachelor of Business Administration, with an emphasis in human resources management, from the University of Georgia. She subsequently attended St. Mary’s University School of Law, where she served as both a Staff Writer and a Comment Editor of St. Mary’s Law Journal, was a member of Phi Alpha Delta Legal Fraternity, and was an invitee of Phi Delta Phi International Legal Honor Fraternity.

Ms. Cantu was licensed practice in Texas in November 1999. Until 2003, she practiced at a nationwide firm, defending insurance companies against homeowners’ insurance coverage claims regarding foundation movement and microbial growth and against employees’ claims for alleged wrongful denial of ERISA benefits. She spent the next ten years at a prominent local civil litigation defense firm, where she expanded her practice to defending businesses and professionals regarding construction defects, premises liability and personal injury claims, as well as defending veterinarians against professional malpractice claims. At Pearson Legal PC, she now applies her extensive defense litigation knowledge and experience to assist businesses and residential property owners in successfully prosecuting their claims against contractors, design professionals, and insurers.

Ms. Cantu is licensed to practice in Texas and in the United States District Court-Western District of Texas. For the last several years, she also has volunteered pro bono services to indigent divorce clients through the Community Justice Program of the San Antonio Bar Association.
Valerie’s greatest personal achievement is being mom to her two precious daughters. She, her husband, and their girls reside in San Antonio.
