SAN ANTONIO – April 17, 2013, will forever remain a dark day in the history of West, Texas.
A fertilizer plant explosion killed more than a dozen people and leveled a large part of the town.
On Thursday, a San Antonio law firm donated $1 million to public schools in the small town to help them continue their recovery.
Gravely and Pearson L.L.P.
represented West Independent School District in a lawsuit against the district’s insurance company, after three of its four schools were severely damaged by the blast.
“It’s kind of important for me to be able to do this. I have three kids in public schools, and I know public school is really important. I’m a product of public school,” Matthew Pearson said.
The donation will be used specifically for extracurricular activities.
